Sciatica Treatment on Vacation?

We couldn’t have been more excited to be on vacation.

My husband, Jack, and I along with our two girls (ages 6 and 3) were heading to Kansas City – the City of Fountains.  We had big plans.  I had booked a hotel in Overland Park so we could be central to all of the destinations we’d be exploring.
As we took the Overland Park exit, I said, “We’re here!”  The girls cheered from the back seat.  We pulled into the hotel parking lot, checked in and then began unloading our luggage.  We had packed a car top carrier because we couldn’t fit everything into our trunk.

Everything Seemed Perfect Until…

Everything seemed perfect.  We were bringing in the luggage, one bag at a time.  But, while Jack was unloading luggage from the top of the car, he slipped and landed right onto his lower back.  I ran to help him up, but he said that he was fine.  We loaded the rest of the luggage up to our room and then headed out to explore Kansas City.

Jack’s back got worse each day.

One morning, he could barely roll himself out of bed.  Pain medicine didn’t seem to help.

I checked with our hotel concierge who recommended that we see a chiropractor who could provide sciatica treatment in Overland Park or Olathe so that we didn’t have to drive much. We found a local chiropractic clinic that was open on the weekend – Fulk Chiropractic.  Their chiropractic clinic was located in East Olathe.

One of the Overland Park chiropractors was able to get him in that day.  We found out that he needed sciatica treatment.  The chiropractor explained that sciatica is a condition that often happens gradually and then gets worse over time.  He recommended a sciatica pain relief treatment program that included X-rays, chiropractic adjustments, and some physical therapy.

After Jack’s first adjustment, he felt almost immediate relief.  The doctor told him to put ice on it throughout our stay in Overland Park and to get out of the car to stretch it every hour on our trip back home to Arkansas.

Jack’s sciatica pain was less and less bothersome each day of the vacation.  He visited the clinic 3 times during our stay in Overland Park, and we were able to experience all the Kansas City has to offer!

I can’t thank Fulk Chiropractic enough for being open when we really needed help.  I only wish we lived closer!  Thanks again, Fulk!
