If you’ve ever wished that your spouse would just “try” chiropractic treatment as you watch him or her suffer with back pain, sciatica or neck pain, then Family Week – February 4-10, 2013 is the week you’ve been waiting for. During this one-week event, the back doctors at Fulk Chiropractic offer chiropractic care to the family members of our existing patients, free of charge. This includes exams, x-rays, chiropractic adjustments, and physical therapy.
Olathe Back Doctors offer a Physical and Neurological Exam
Your first appointment includes an initial consultation and exam to help the doctor determine your “case history” – to discover any times of trauma to your spine. Trauma to the spine can happen in an auto accident or from taking a major fall, but “smaller” events can cause damage to the discs and joints surrounding the spinal column, too. Some of these events include, lifting improperly, sitting in a sedentary position for long periods of time, skiing or biking accident, and even violent sneezing!
Once the doctor determines the cause or causes of the injury, he or she will conduct a physical and neurological exam to determine your range of motion and discuss any complaints or symptoms you’re experiencing.
Olathe Back Doctors offer X-rays
X-rays are an important part of a chiropractor’s spine treatment plan. They act as a map to your spine to help your chiropractor determine where you need spine treatment. By gathering this necessary information, your doctor can evaluate the structure of your spine, examine your posture and look for signs of a fracture before applying any force to the affected joints.
Olathe Back Doctors offer Chiropractic Adjustments
After the chiropractor has conducted your exam and explained the cause of your symptoms, he or she will determine the best treatment options to alleviate your symptoms. A chiropractor’s primary goal is to relieve you of any pain, stiffness or discomfort. Once that is achieved, chiropractors work on increasing your range of motion and strengthening the muscles surrounding the injury to prevent future injuries.
This treatment comes in the form of a chiropractic adjustment. The term adjustment simply means applying a force or pressure to a “locked up” or “fixated” joint to restore motion. It is the lack of motion or movement to the joint that often causes pressure and pain as the bones of the spine irritate the nerve. By restoring motion, through spine treatments or chiropractic adjustments, chiropractors alleviate the pressure on the nerves.
Olathe Back Doctors offer Physical Therapy
After the chiropractic adjustment, part of a chiropractor’s spine treatment plan is physical therapy. Chiropractors utilize several forms of physical therapy to aid in the healing process. Physical Therapy relaxes muscle spasms, soothes irritation in the nerves and reduces pain. It can be used to help make injured muscles stronger.
Chiropractors utilize electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, ice and moist heat to help patients achieve optimal health as rapidly as possible.
